Submitted requests, administrator sessions and notice preferences have different purposes and lifetimes.

Enquiries and project-update requests
The online form is open for the contact options shown with each project.
A submitted enquiry or project-update request expires 90 days after submission. It is hidden from administration at expiry and deleted from the live registry database by the hourly cleanup, within one hour after expiry.
The period applies to the request, its project reference, your answers and the preferences recorded with it. A project-update preference does not create a longer retention period.

You can ask for deletion sooner
Use the privacy contact shown above to ask us to delete a request or withdraw a project-update preference. Include the project and email address used so that we can identify the record. Registering interest does not make a purchase or create a contract.
Other records used to operate the registry
- Administrator sessions
- A session expires after 8 hours and stops granting access at that point. Sign-out removes the session. Expired session records are removed by the hourly cleanup.
- Abuse-prevention counters
- Counters derived from network addresses become eligible for cleanup after 2 days. They support submission limits and do not contain the text of your enquiry.
- Deletion audit
- A limited deletion record is kept for 90 days after the action, then removed by the hourly cleanup. It records an administrator reference, action, time and hashed request identifier, rather than the deleted name, email or message.
- The notice preference in your browser
- A dismissal is valid for 180 days. The expired preference is cleared on the next visit and the notice is shown again. You can remove site storage sooner in your browser. Read about browser storage.
What these periods cover
These periods describe records in the registry's live database and its notice preference. Direct email and WhatsApp conversations are handled outside the registry; its cleanup does not remove those messages.
The registry cleanup also does not establish a deletion period for backup copies or records in other services. Ask the privacy contact about the retention that applies to those records.
